Kayaking Trial Day
If you fancy getting into a white-water kayak for a day just to give it a go, then this taster day is just the thing for you.
Kayaking taster day on the River Salza in Styria
Our 2-day kayaking course for beginners is the perfect introduction to white-water kayaking. Together with experienced kayaking instructors, you’ll learn the basics of kayaking step by step on the River Salza in Styria.
The course is aimed at beginners with little or no kayaking experience. You’ll practise paddling technique, balance, boat control, eddy turns, and how to stay safe in white water and in the event of a capsize.
With its turquoise waters, the Salza offers ideal conditions for a safe and varied introduction to white-water kayaking – right in the heart of the Gesäuse’s stunning natural surroundings.
- Programme
Meet at our base. Welcome from our kayaking instructors and a brief overview of the course programme. - First steps in white-water kayaking
We’ll then set off on our first few metres in the boat on calm water, where we’ll show you how to handle the equipment correctly, how to get out safely if you capsize, and the basic paddling techniques. The aim is to gain a sense of confidence and control in the boat. In a relaxed atmosphere, our kayaking instructors will teach you the basics and techniques of kayaking. As well as the technical basics, however, the focus is above all on having fun – during some of the fun games, you’re bound to end up doing the odd unintentional ‘half’ Eskimo roll.
A soaking wet bit of kayaking fun for anyone who wants to give kayaking a go for the first time.
